About the work

Renaissance dance music in concert-band colors.

Dances from Terpsichore brings six selections from Michael Praetorius’s celebrated 1612 dance collection into a wind-ensemble setting. The suite moves from the ceremonial Courante to gavottes, a Spanish-flavored Spagnoletta, a Ballet, and two lively Voltes, with individual movements spotlighting brass, saxophones, clarinets, flutes, and double reeds.
