An Icelandic song arranged for SATB recorders. See the score PDF for a synopsis of the song. The lyrics refer to the massive desert plateau Sprengisandur, located in the center of Iceland. Since the Middle Ages it was crossed by a road—commonly called “the sand”—that traversed the island from south to north, crossing the desert mainland instead of keeping to the inhabited coastline. Traveling on it was considered an extremely dangerous ordeal. Outlaws roamed the road, and it was believed to be haunted by ghosts, spirits, and mythical creatures of all kinds. The arrangement includes a complete score and individual parts.
